If you’re looking for fall activities in Urbana, OH, you’ve come to the right place. Enjoy our list of the three best ways to spend an autumn day in the area.

51st Annual OktoberFest at Champaign County Historical Society Museum

Visit the county museum in Urbana on October 1 for this annual event featuring pumpkin decorating, kids’ games, craft vendors, and refreshments from a wide variety of restaurants like Spotted Cow Coffee, Farmer’s Daughter, and Poppy’s Smokehouse. Don’t miss the traditional OktoberFest options like German food from Schmidt’s Restaurant and Hungarian dessert delicacies by Carter’s Chimney Cakes.

OktoberFest takes place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Champaign County Historical Society Museum at 809 E Lawn Ave. Bring cash for the $3 admission fee, which includes admission to the festival and the museum building. Proceeds from the event benefit the museum’s operating budget.

Winter Tour at Ohio Caverns

Despite its name, the Winter Tour at Ohio Caverns is available from October 1 through April 30. This guided tour provides highlights about the original exploration of the cave from 1897 to 1925. Your guide will also discuss the colorful natural rock formations throughout the caverns, including the largest stalactite in the state.

Ohio Caverns are located about 13 miles from Urbana in West Liberty. You’ll find this attraction at 2210 E SR-245, and it’s open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free for kids 4 and younger, $12 for children ages 5 to 12, and $24 for adults. When you visit, you can also enjoy the playground, gift shop, and picnic areas on the property.

Boo in the Bog at Cedar Bog Nature Preserve

Be sure to visit this Urbana preserve in the fall before it closes for the winter in November. Cedar Bog Nature Preserve is a National Natural Landmark. We recommend stopping by for Boo in the Bog, a night hike lit by jack o’lanterns on the preserve’s boardwalks. It’s held October 13 and 14 from 7 to 9 p.m. with $6 event admission.

Cedar Bog Nature Preserve is located at 980 Woodburn Rd. The nature center is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. from Wednesday through Saturday only, but you can stroll the boardwalk and trails seven days a week from sunrise until sunset, weather permitting. General admission costs $5 for adults and $6 for students ages 6 to 17. It’s free for members and kids 5 and younger.
