The engine is the most expensive part of your Ford and requires regular services to keep it running perfectly. If your Ford develops engine problems, your Ford dealership can fix them for you. These are some of the problems we can repair.

Failing Alternator

Most of your Ford’s systems depend on electricity, which powers everything from the starter to the windshield wipers. The alternator is an electrical generator that’s responsible for producing all your car’s electricity. It’s powered by the turning of the crankshaft as you drive. On average, your alternator will last for at least eight years, but its life can be shortened by problems with other engine systems.

A failing alternator will produce less electricity than it should, and eventually, it won’t supply enough power for all your car’s systems. When this happens, random electrical issues will develop and further affect your car’s performance. These issues ranged from devices like the seat heating suddenly shutting down to starting difficulties due to lack of electricity. We can test your alternator and install a new one if necessary.

Blocked Catalytic Converter

The catalytic converter’s job is to remove the dangerous chemicals created as byproducts of the combustion process. It does this by using a combination of high pressure, extreme heat, and chemical reactions to convert these chemicals into harmless ones and water. The conversion process generates carbon as a byproduct and carbon deposits can block the converter.

A blocked converter forces the engine gases back into the engine. These gases raise the pressure in the engine, and this pressure can cause the engine to shut down. We will fix this problem by removing the converter, clearing the blockages, and reinstalling it. Once the converter has been cleaned, you’ll notice an improvement in engine performance.

White Exhaust Smoke

Normal exhaust smoke is almost invisible. If your exhaust starts belching thick, white smoke, this is a sign of engine trouble. It means that water is leaking into the exhaust system. Water and your engine don’t mix, as water can cause rust. The only source of water in an engine is found in the coolant, which is a 50/50 mixture of water and antifreeze.

The cooling system operates under high-temperature and high-pressure conditions, and coolant is essential for keeping your engine temperature under control. If you have a coolant leak, your engine’s internal temperature will rise rapidly, and it can overheat. Our technicians will trace the source of the leak and repair it, then we’ll refill the coolant, and your engine temperature will return to normal again.
