2023 Ford Edge
The 2023 Ford Edge is a refined and comfortable midsize crossover that also offers plenty of personality and a peppy ride. If you're looking for a refined and fun-driving midsize vehicle for your daily drive, check out what you can expect in terms of the appearance, options, engine power, performance, technology, and safety features of the latest Ford Edge.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
The 2023 Ford Edge can be had in five trim levels for a good range of customizability options. It starts with the SE, which is followed by the midrange SEL, the sporty ST-Line, the upscale Titanium, and the performance-based ST. Body colors include Star White, Rapid Red, Forged Green Metallic, Iconic Silver Metallic, Stone Blue, Carbonized Gray Metallic, Burgundy Velvet, Atlas Blue, and Agate Black Metallic. Extra appearance touches at various trim levels include gloss black or carbonized wheels, special badging, and special black accent trim.
Engine (Power)
Two engines are available for the new Edge, the more powerful of which is only available at the performance-oriented ST trim level. Most 2023 Ford Edge crossovers are powered by a turbocharged four-cylinder, 2.0-liter engine that makes 260 horsepower with 280 pound-feet of torque, mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. If you want additional power, step up to the Ford Edge ST, which gets a bigger 2.7-liter turbocharged V-6 that is capable of producing a pulse-pounding 335 horsepower with 380 pound-feet of torque mated to a seven-speed automatic transmission.
Performance
All Ford Edge models, regardless of the trim or powertrain, get standard all-wheel drive so you can handle rugged terrain or poor weather conditions like rain or snow. The Edge offers athletic steering, agile handling, and authoritative braking with smooth shifting regardless of whether you have the eight-speed or seven-speed transmission. Acceleration is solid and in line with other crossovers in its class. It nets an EPA-estimated 21 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway for most models, though the ST gets 19 mpg city and 25 mpg highway.
Interior
The cabin design is refined and comfortable, offering a level of class that some competitors simply do not. The seats offer plenty of supportive bolstering, and soft leather upholstery is available. The Edge features reclining rear seatbacks, and the suspension neatly mitigates road bumps and jars. The cabin is quiet and serene thanks to noise canceling technology, and the Ford Sync infotainment system remains one of the most highly regarded in its class. In terms of storage, you get 39.2 cubic feet of space behind the back seat, expandable to 73.4 cubic feet.
Safety Features
All Ford Edge models come with the Ford Co-Pilot360 suite of active intelligent safety features. These include, right from the entry trim, automatic high beams, blind-spot monitoring, cross-traffic warnings, lane keeping and lane-departure warning, and frontal crash warning with automatic braking to mitigate the damage from a collision. Other safety features at higher trim levels include the Co-Pilot360 Assist+ package that adds adaptive cruise control, evasive steering, and GPS navigation. The SEL trim adds the Ford SecuriCode entry keypad for extra security.
